Notes from the Head Office:
This is the fourth book in the Night Office series of interactive training manuals. They’re formatted as solo narrative adventures with multiple endings and branching paths. You know the format. It hasn’t changed since we were kids. The difference here is that the endings are rather, well, final. But that’s what happens when you stand against tentacled monstrosities from strange dimensions.

To date, The Cold Empty is the most complex of these training manuals. It reveals some of the mysterious inner workings of the Night Office as well as some of the other departments that are part of the tangled bureaucracy. I wrote it with both H. P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness” and John Carpenter’s The Thing in mind. Both were quite influential during my formative years.
